On the 20th of December 2021, in collaboration with OECD-WISE, ARPSESS promoted \u00a0an international seminar \u00a0that took place at CNEL headquarters.<\/p>\n
The seminar\u00a0 on \u201cThe Real Ecological Transition (No Green Washing) and the Well-being of People, Results Obtained from the Political Action\u201d \u00a0sealed ARPSESS\u00a0 2021 program characterized by innovative initiatives and projects aiming at supporting the most vulnerable in the society and \u00a0promoting sustainability and equity. To further broad its horizons, ARPSESS has started new collaborations with international institutions pursuing \u00a0a common goal, and in this respect the year 2021 ended with the above mentioned event.<\/p>\n
The seminar was opened \u00a0by the speech of Tiziano Treu<\/strong>, CNEL President, \u00a0and the introduction and closing remarks were \u00a0made by \u00a0Fabiola Riccardini<\/strong>, ARPSESS President.<\/p>\n The \u00a0central keynote speech was made by \u00a0\u00a0Romina Boarini<\/strong> from OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) and WISE director \u00a0(Center on Well-being, Inclusion, Sustainability and Equal Opportunity), who \u00a0presented the activities of the recently established WISE \u00a0center \u00a0reflecting on the need for a fair and supportive transition.<\/p>\n Leonardo Salvemini<\/strong> (Professor at Milan State University) discussed \u00a0\u00a0the relationship between the ecological transition and the principles enshrined in the legislation. His presentation covered \u00a0the legislative instruments needed for the proper transposition of the NRRP and its impact on the legal system, in compliance with national and regional constitutional jurisdictions.<\/p>\n Luigi Fusco Girard<\/strong> (Professor at Naples University, \u00a0Federico II and Naples National Research Council) presented the idea of the cities of the desired future, especially from the perspective of metropolitan cities \u00a0and ports, which are key \u00a0gateways for the development of the country.<\/p>\n Mauro Gallegati<\/strong> (Professor at Marche Polytechnic University) discussed \u00a0\u00a0the painstaking transition from a fossil fuel to a decarbonized economy. The questions still unanswered are \u2018whether we are technologically prepared to produce green energy\u2019, because in spite of the \u00a0progress made by energy efficiency technology, replacing polluting energy is still far too expensive. In any event, we must break the current evolutionary deadlock.<\/p>\n Roberto Danovaro<\/strong> (Professor of Marine Biology and Ecology at the Marche Polytechnic University, and President of the Anton Dohrn Zoological Station, Naples, Italy) reflected \u00a0on the ecological transition that will be using the \u201cblue\u201d sea as a test bench; seas and oceans play an essential role in promoting sustainable development and the solutions ahead will constitute one of the key challenges found in the \u00a0Green Deal and the Italian NRRP.<\/p>\n Are the political commitments that ensued from the declaration of Glasgow going to be strong enough to come \u00a0to terms with the current challenges afflicting the global population? The pandemic has made any solution far more daunting. Climate changes, increased inequalities, the planet and the global\u00a0 population health are high on the political agenda and were \u00a0discussed\u00a0 during the seminar \u00a0The political understanding \u00a0of the ecological transition will be preceded and perhaps surpassed by concrete \u00a0transformations in the behavior of companies, individuals and institutions. The challange \u00a0is open.<\/p>\n Following the discussions held by\u00a0 the speakers and the remarks made by ARPSESS President, the floor was then open for questions or comments from the attendees.
